Accessibility

Antersite always puts the stress on accessibility and will follow the latest standards according to the Disability Discrimination Act. Our templates are customised in XHTML and PHP, using CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). Testing is done on most recent browsers, and older versions, for Macs and PCs, to ensure cross platform compatibility.

The power of the Web is in its universality. Access by everyone regardless of disability is an essential aspect
Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director and inventor of the World Wide Web

We aim for AAA standards and always comply to AA level, adhering to W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) standards on website accessibility.

Anterprise development processes meet the following guidelines:

The navigation will be consistent throughout and usually added to each page as simple hyperlinks to help the use of text browsers and search engine crawlers. If JavaScript menus (animated or drop-down) are built in to the design alternative navigation will be provided.

The site format will be suitable for smaller monitors and for printing. A text only version is available throughout. Keyboard short cuts are available.

Design templates are provided in English and display well for the following browsers:
» Internet Explorer version 7.x running on Windows
» Mozilla Firefox version 1.x running on Windows and Apple Macintoshes
» Apple Safari version 1.x running on Apple Macintoshes

Pages display well on a minimum screen resolution of 800 by 600 pixels at 24-bit colour. The design can expand on bigger screens.

All sites use the following coding standards:
» XHTML 1.0 Strict
» CSS level 1 and CSS level 2
» Unicode character encoding
» Relative text size (EM values, to allow for text resize in the browser)

And validate on the w3c site for:
» XHTML 1.0
» At least CSS level 1 and preferably CSS level 2
» Level AA of W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) standards on website accessibility

Flash can be used as part of the design but will be provided with a static alternative for those who may not have the plug-in.
